My personal theory is, if the politician can't be honest with his/her SPOUSE, how can I possibly expect honesty or trustworthiness in office?
When Hilary Clinton allowed herself to be humiliated by her husband and that dolt, Monica "Lewd"insky, without divorcing his sorry a**, it REALLY opened the door for the rest of the two-timing, scumbags. I seriously do not understand why anyone respects someone who doesn't respect her/himself, but there she is...senator, cabinet member, presidential hopeful.
But I digress...
Mark Twain (November 30, 1835 – April 21, 1910) once said something along the lines of: "Suppose you were an idiot. Suppose you were a member of Congress. Oh, but I repeat myself".
(Still true over a century later)

Yes, they are representing all their constituents, this includes the people who live by higher morals and expect professionalism from the people they choose to lead them and speak for them. Who wants a representative who's private life is dedicated to porn or illicit sex? A politician should represent the spirit of the people and work for the betterment of the people. If his/her morals are set lower than those of the people who voted for him/her then what good is he/she to the people? We may as well have Hugh Hefner run for president if morals or higher standards do not matter.

Long ago I choose not to enter politics after considering how folk spread gossip, make-up stories to pass along their escape hatch from boredom. The public theater of reputations to die for simply existed in fantasy worlds where mannered polite people engaged their friends in polite nice-ities and coy, demure…..well mannered attributes. Praise in the hierarchy of glitter, glitch and gold-leaf frames holding 300 year old fading and tattered art is sobering to all lovers of truth. Join that!? I’d rathe choke on a roach than pretend at what I’m not.
