I had a 8,000 carbon fiber one of a kind downhill mountain bike stolen from me! I know who took the bike. I am going to make a citizens arrest against the person cause its considered Grand Theft. I have two people that seen the person steal the bike! I have all the paper work to prove the bike is mine! Would it be better to have written documents from the two people that seen the person when I charge the person with Grand Theft?

Do you understand what a citizens arrest is? You personally have to see the crime taking place. You make a citizens arrest to keep the perp from leaving before the police get there. You do not go out after a person like an avenger and track a person down where they live. Just call the police before you or someone else gets hurt. You are not a police officer. The person you feel took your bike does not have to speak to you or go anywhere with you and if you try to detain them while they are not committing a crime, they can have you charged with harassment, unlawful detainment, assault if you touch them and kidnapping if you try and make them go anywhere with you. They would also have the right to defend them self from a civilian pretending to be a cop. If they feel threatened by you, they can defend them self within the boundaries of the law. Depending on where you live, they could legally use a weapon.
