kenmore dryer continues to run
after the dryer finishes the cycle, you hear a ticking sound for a few minutes then the dryer starts and runs for ten minutes then the ticking sounds comes back for ten minutes then the ryer runs again for ten minutes. This continues until I manual open the door, I have to leave the door open 24/7 so the empty dryer wont run by itself.

it doesn't matter what setting the dial is on, the clicking starts at the end of the cycle weather an empty or full dryer, We mainly use timed dry not the Auto Dry I setting..I hear what you are saying and I agree with the theory. but there is the dial on the left with all the timer settings and the start button on the right. Nothing else.

What model is the dryer so I can look up the owner manual and check the trouble shooting section? Remember, use the comment this answer link under my original answer so I get the notification that you replied.
OK, I found Winkle guard
WRINKLE GUARD helps keep
your permanent press items
wrinkle-free when you don't
unload the dryer promptly at
the end of the AUTO DRY Cycle.
If you do not open the door at the end
of the AUTO DRY Cycle, WRINKLE
GUARD will tumble the clothes without
heat for 30 minutes.
• This action will be continuous unless
you open the dryer.
During WRINKLE GUARD, the End-ofCycle SIGNAL will sound every 5 minutes
If you need it, you can find your owner's manual here: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/6267/KENMORE-Residential-Dryer-L0705194?brand_name_search=+110.78702895
