Instructions

Park the car, turn off the engine and open the hood. Unfasten the negative battery cable of the vehicle from the battery post with an open-end wrench. Loosen the bolts on the coolant overflow reservoir bracket with a socket wrench and remove the reservoir from the engine compartment.

Detach the retaining nuts on the cover of the electronic control module (ECM) with a nut driver and remove the cover from the unit. The ECM is a black plastic case in front of the power steering pump.

Place a socket wrench over the bolt in the center of the tensioner pulley and lift up (clockwise) with the wrench to loosen the serpentine belt on the power steering pump. The tensioner pulley is located between the crankshaft and alternator pulleys.

Remove the serpentine belt from the power steering pump pulley and let the tensioner pulley move back into position. Place a drain pan on the ground underneath the power steering pump and unfasten the screw clamp on the power steering return hose on the bottom of the pump with a screwdriver.

Pull the return hose off the bottom of the pump and let it drain into the pan. Remove the power steering pump pressure hose on the top of the pump with an open-end wrench and let the fluid drain into the drain pan.

Unfasten the pump mounting bolts on the side of the pump with a socket wrench and take the pump off the engine. Remove the power steering pump from the engine compartment and set it out of the way.
