    Instructions
    1
Locate the knock sensor on your engine. The locations will vary slightly depending on the make and model of your vehicle. However, knock sensors are typically mounted next to the intake manifold on the engine. They will have an electric wiring harness attached to the back.

    2
Squeeze the two tabs in on the electric wiring harness and unplug it from the back of your knock sensor.

    3
Remove the mounting bolts holding the sensor in place. On some models, there will be two bolts holding the sensor in place. On other models, the sensor itself screws into the engine similar to the way a spark plug does. A socket or open-ended wrench can remove the sensor.

    4
Put the new sensor back in place either by screwing it in or re-inserting the mounting bolts and tightening them with your wrench or socket set.

    5
Plug the electric wiring harness into the back of the newly-mounted sensor.
