    It's an electrical safety requirement for pools, if your swimming pool is deeper than 42", than you need a grounding grid (equipotential bonding). Its a #8 wire that circles the pool between 18"-24", buried 4"-6" below the subgrade, and connecting to anything metal, must attach to pool reinforcing steel at a minimum of 4 points uniformly spaced around the perimeter of the pool.
