itsmee, drinking 8 glasses of water during the day does you immense good. Think it this way. Your body is 70%+ water. Deprive it =, it will shrink cells. Nourish it, it will bloom.

Some of us can drink a boat load of water and still be ugly as a bucket of hammer handles!

ROFL ... ROFL ... I must go. Almost peed my pants. Can I say that. I DID. BYE!

Sorry It, next time I will give warning so you can sit on the throne with the laptop!!

My crown is nearby. : )

The need to drink 8 glasses of water a day, is often quoted as factual. It is not! We need to drink 8 glasses of total fluid. Even that, is only an approximation and is debated. It depends on how often you exercise, the weather, your weight, how much "water-containing food" you eat (i.e.fruit) and lots of other factors.

Further study will show that alcohol should only be used in moderation. Is this new news? Again, just worried about your health.

    Now you're just nitpicking.

Yes. That's what friends are for. :)

I wouldn't say you can always stay healthy and beautiful by drinking water and eating a good diet and getting lots of rest and exercise.......but it certainly increases your chances of fending off disease.

    itsmee

I work on it daily. I guess it helps. I don't do the water and I don't recommend it.

My secret to staying healthy and beautiful is drinking plenty of liquids. I just find that plain water has a rather bland taste to it.

    itsmee

I could drink LOTS & LOTS of coffee. I don't think that counts as a liquid.
It works for early on-set dementia. (I've read that somewhere. It's not fact)

    So you add wine?
    bustieone

Beer is a good alternative to dementia...
    digger

@Ducky "Substitute" is a more a propos word to use than "add" when it comes to wine.

I was hoping that you were thinking of your health...trying to keep "water" in the mix, that's all. I'm worried about you, you know. :)

I never water-down ANYTHING. Besides, doing so to wine would be sacrilegious. Just ask Benthere.
    itsmee

Watering down the wine (or the brandy or whatever) is what your teenage kids do when you go away for the weekend.

I drink water, but 8-16oz. glasses would be a stretch for me. So-far today 1-16 oz glass of distilled water( the water here is full of dissolver minerals that make cement, so I avoid tap water as a beverage). 3-16oz cups of expresso coffee, a 16 oz bottle of Dad’s root beer, and 3 or 4 more beverages today probably. That adds up to 8 − 16 oz of some liquid and on a rigorous work day…much more distilled water. If it were local water I would not have any kidneys by now.

    itsmee

I have lived in many towns in California and I have NEVER had a drink from the tap. Yesterday I was mixing a drink that used water. My mind wandered and I ran tap water in the glass. When I realized what I'd done I spit it out and poured the mixed beverage down the drain.
I'm not sure what distilled water is. I kind of thought that was what you're supposed to put in your iron. (Whatever an iron is)

@itsmee...I think an iron is one of those things that our grandmothers used, to take wrinkles out of clothing...or something like that? lol
    itsmee

I don't mind wrinkles in my clothes. I wear cotton and it's always wrinkled. I do not want to have wrinkles in my face. (I may have them. I don't look that closely)

roberrtgrist, not distilled water. Drink bottled water. Check with your municipalty about tap water suitabilty to drink. If ok, first boil the water , let it cool and drink. It can't be bad because besides humans there are other 'consumers'.
    robertgrist

sawali …Like I said, distilled water. The water her is considered safe from the tap to drink. But the dissolved minerals, especially in the summer months, is so mineralized that our hot water tank has to be cleaned out every two years or they burn out and nearly everyone I know locally has had kidney problems…usually more so in August and September. I have been drinking distilled water for over 50 years without any problem and my medical checkups show that I have a lower than average risk of heart problems.

Obviously W works for you. If it ain't broken, don't fix it. So my apology.

It's no guarantee, but it won't hurt ya none!

    YES

    for how long?

    itsmee

At the time I wrote that, I believe I meant FOREVER. My question was not well thought out. Let's say ... Can you stay young & well till you're 70 - 75,
    sawali

Thanks for clarification. Human body is very complex and as you age ailments start to surface sometimes even before 55-60. doing the right things may mean differently to different people. So no you can help by proper diet and excercis but no guarantees. See M J Fox, Mohamed Ali and me. We are in the same boat. Keep well and look after yourself without worrying about tomorrow!
    itsmee

Move over. I'll climb aboard with you all.
    sawali

Thank you but keep drinking water but not too much while excercising!

Unfortunately there's no secret to staying young & beautiful. However, there are definitely steps that you can take to prevent premature aging. Taking care of your skin by using SPF when you're in the sun and moisturizing everyday are definitely helpful measures. Also being mindful of your diet, exercising, and drinking lots of water like you mentioned will also promote healthy and natural aging.

WebMd has a great article that would be helpful for you to read, it's about eating for longevity.

Come on,itsmee. Just use the translate site. It's a big,big world out there.
    itsmee

I don't know how to use the translate site.

Not necessary, Some people still get affected with uneven pigments and skin discolorations. But of course drink enough water, stay hydrated and get flawless, beautiful and healthy skin.

    itsmee

Gotta go get a glass of water. Thanks Jessy.

yes I believe.  when I do all the right things I look beautiful.  when I don't do most of the right things, I scare myself.

Water is important, but probiotic for the gut - digestion system is so very important. Its the lack of bacteria that becomes and leads to health problems. Put it to you this way, athletes on average have approximately 8 good populations of the 12 needed bacteria strains. If you go and buy probiotics, buy ones that are refrigerated.

....I hope that includes ice cream .
