Perform 10,000 Smash Moves. A Smash Move is a special attack that you can perform after hitting a Smash Ball. A Smash Ball is a small orb that will intermittently float through the battlefield. The game will automatically keep track of how many Smash Moves you perform.

Acquire the Tabuu trophy. You can do this by battling Tabuu in either the single or multiplayer mode. Attack Tabuu until he only has one bar of energy remaining. You can also work with a teammate, which will make the battle significantly easier. This is because one of you can distract Tabuu while the other attacks and performs special moves.

Position yourself near a trophy stand. Wait until Tabuu has one bar of energy remaining and then grab the nearby trophy and throw it at him. You will be more likely to strike Tabuu if he is close to you. Otherwise, he can easily dodge the trophy. If you hit Tabuu with the trophy, you will unlock the ability to play as Tabuu.
