Barbeque Warning worth repeating. It's getting warmer in the Northern Hemisphere.

This is a "public service announcement!" I posted this last year, but inasmuch as there are people who haven't seen it, it bears repeating, and hopefully, might even save some lives: Wire brush danger! A guy in New Jersey cleaned his grill with a wire brush, and part of the brush got imbedded in his steak, which he ate. He soon thereafter developed a serious infection and had serious pain. It was thought that he had appendicitis, but it was ruled out. He was operated on and the wire was removed. He was close to death. Now he's fine. There were six such incidents also in Rhode Island. There are alternatives that are great for cleaning (see posted answers on previous post). Also, it goes without saying that you should never pour lighter fuel on a fire; the flame can travel up the stream and ignite the container. PLEASE BE CAREFUL and SPREAD THE WORD!

Hmmm.Have often clean with a wire brush. Well, not me personally. I've heard wadding up foil scrubs a grill rather effectively.....

    Thanks for the warning.....

The use of a brush is obsolete now as long as the barby is cleaned each time using Bar- B - Q WIPES, they are excellent.

I saw a lady clean hers with a raw onion. I was surprised at the amount of gunk the onion took off the grates, the whole onion was black.

The biggest worry is faulty gas connection to the bar-b-q, the rubber hose after a period of time starts to crack/ perish, always check the fittings before using each time or you may get a huge explosion -- this notice posted by the M.F.B. each year.   :)

In South Australia only gas bar-b-q's can be used in the summer months because of the fire bans even in suburbia.

    ....thanks, good information.

cleaning it with Vinegar and a scrubby pad works really well.
