Most row boats are fitted witha keel or deadwood that runs along the centre of the underside of the boat. This is what helps to keep them straight.Pontoons do not usually have this feature,so the only way to keep them reasonably straight is to row evenly with both oars. The other option is to fit a deadwood to the underside of the boat. This will reduce your capability to navigate shallow water to some extent.
