Is it acceptable to respond to 1,2 or 3 year old questions ?

I think that material that is posted and left open is an invitation to respond no matter how old, however, when I responded to a year old question , I was asked Why was I responding to a year old ?

This question is deceptive. You did not actually answer the year old question.
You were never told you couldn't answer a year old question. I was just wondering why you went to a year old question and told me to move along. I had already moved along a year ago. Seems to me your objective, just like this one now is to try and stir something up. With 7000 karma, you're not a newbie.

We run out of current questions to answer and so answering older questions, while they obviously are still poking around, are begging to be answered.

Seriously how would you feel? Poor little question waiting and waiting and waiting some more only to find their little old selves waiting and waiting and sitting and waiting.... oh woe is the poor little year old question... Le' Weepsy Weep! Sob Sob Sob.... past the due date.... Waaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
