The gays who can now protect their partners and children at the state level sure do. Now if it can be recognized at the federal level they would have the added security of the other 2000 rights that state level marriage does not have. Right now, even if a gay is married to a military person, they are not entitled to the benefits that hetero people are should their spouse/partner die in combat. But for now, to even be recognized at the state level, it is progress.
