Because your blood is not being circulated down to your fingers. That's why your hands are cold. See a doctor if you continue to have issues with this if it is happening indoors where it is warm. If you are outside in the freezing cold, this is a sign of frostbite. Your body is keeping the blood around your important organs so they do not freeze. Arms and legs, hands and feet are not life preserving parts of the body so they will not get the blood that is needed to preserve vital organs in extreme cold.

Yes..This is the case..blood flow "priority" flows to the major organs to ensure they are protected.Circulation in hands and feet are secondary priority and blood vessels are smaller and circulation poorer or slower to reach fingers and toes...think about how much harder it is to keep hands and feet warmer than major body organs..it is even more noticable in thin and elderly people..people who lose weight rapidly will often notice the sudden loss of heat in their hands and feet as blood flow is prioritized to the major organs for primary survival chances!..If you are concerned re any circulatory problems then don`t hesitate to see your G.P...If only to put your mind at rest!
