You might have too many programs in the start up list. Try removing some of them.
Use the Windows System Configuration utility to remove startup items in Windows XP, Vista and 7. To access the utility in Windows XP, click on the "Start" button and choose "Run." Type the "msconfig" command into the "Run" search box and click "OK." For Windows 7 and Vista, type "msconfig" directly into the search box in the "Start" menu.

Click on the tab labeled "Processes" in the System Configuration window that appears. The window will display a list of the startup items with a check box next to the filename.

Uncheck the boxes that are associated with the programs you want to remove from Windows Startup and click the "Apply" button. Click "OK" to save the changes to the startup process. The next time the computer is restarted the program will no longer automatically launch with Windows.
