Instructions
1
Remove as much of the stain as possible with your fingers or with a hard plastic spatula and utensils. Wear rubber gloves when working with pet vomit, urine or feces.
2
Mix ¼ teaspoon liquid dishwashing detergent with 1 cup of lukewarm water. Do not use a strong concentration cleaner or bleach cleaner. Never use laundry detergent as it often has fragrances that can damage your carpet.
3
Blot the solution onto the stain with a clean white cloth. If you use a white cloth you will be able to see that the vomit, urine or feces is being transferred to the cloth and you will know when it has all been removed. Do not smear the stain or rub it as this will cause the stain to go deeper into the fabric.
4
Mix 1 cup of white distilled vinegar with 2 cups of water if the vomit, urine or feces stain is still visible. Blot the solution onto the stain until it no longer transfers to the cloth and is removed.
5
Rinse the area by spraying it with cold water. This will prevent you from over wetting the carpet, which can cause permanent damage to the carper backing.
6
Let the carpet dry completely.
7
Sprinkle baking soda over the stain and let it sit for several hours if a smell is still present.
8
Vacuum up the baking soda.
