    Tommyh

Yeah you can swim there Itsmee.& of course there are animals in the water just like everywhere else except the pool. You don't hear of shark attacks inside the Broadwater tho. There are plenty of other fish for them to eat I s'pose.:)

Colleen - found the right bit now would you believe - you take very good care now.
    itsmee

Of course there are no sharks. How could I say such a .... oh never mind.

I love the pictures. It would be nice if Texas would have a "freak" snow storm so we could get at least half of what you guys received.

I use to love that stuff as a kid. Julie did you put food coloring in your snow ice cream.
    jhharlan

No, just sugar, milk and vanilla...and snow. Yankees have never heard of it.....
    Colleen

I have :)The dogs however eat real snow ice. When the snow crystallizes and has ice chunks, they go nuts for it.
    mycatsmom

don't eat yellow snow ;-) That old joke fit in so well right there.
    doolittle

We used to put maple syrup on snow and eat it like a candy bar when it hardened - Yumm
    Colleen

Had to be real maple syrup. The fake stuff does not work.
    jhharlan

I happened to have purchased some REAL maple syrup. Where is the snow? Or at least some cold weather...........?

CB is suppose to be finding a truck. Maybe she'll drive some out to you.
    doolittle

Yup it was the real thing! Yummy..I actually made a big pot of chili for our Superbowl party and it called for a cup of maple syrup and cinnamon..along with hot peppers- it was like sweet and hot at the same time...kind of weird but everyone ate it

I'm use to this amount, just not all at once. The day before yesterday there wan not one spot of snow. It was all grass.
    Ducky

    Moderator
No I should correct that. NOT every winter lately. For the past two winters, we've had little snow and much warmer temperatures than normal. These pics are what we've always "considered normal" for us but things are changing.
    Colleen

    Moderator
Yes, this amount of snow should be normal for us too. In '78 there was probably this much on the ground already when that blizzard hit. We ended up with 6 foot banks then. Growing up in NH, I am use to winters with this much snow, I just don't like getting it all at once.

Wow! You have more snow than here in NH.  We had about 20 inches and very little wind, but we are all worn out from shoveling. No power outage either. MA had 400 thousand power outages. I guess we are very lucky.

    Colleen

    Moderator
20 inches is not really that much less than what we got. I don't know the total of outages here in CT. It was all southern CT though.

Most of the time I get so upset with CA politics that I wish I were back east, then I see this and I remember why I moved west and it all makes sense again.. Glad you didn't suffer any damage.. I feel so sorry for peeps back there right now.

We don't get this every winter anymore. The last few winters have been pretty mild.
    Vinny

Yeah I know-- I was a passenger during the 1978 (?) blizzard that covered mideast. That was terrible! but I don't like the cold anymore either, my bones creak. Eventually though i will end up back there as California especially where I am is just not affordable for retirement.

I'm so glad you are safe and have electricity!

    Colleen

    Me too! :)

I have been in a blizzard where there was no snow when I went to bed, but then when I woke up the next morning, The snow was like a foot deep!

    Colleen

    Moderator
Only a foot? Was it a mini blizzard? ;)
    eggbert

It was a blizzard, at least one foot!!! Right now where I live, it's raining!
    Colleen

    Moderator
LOL, here in NE, a blizzard does better than 1 foot. What you see in my pictures is at least 22 inches. Just over 2 feet.

WOW..........That is scary! Thanks for sharing these amazing photos.

Glad to hear everything is OK,we got hit good in '78,but this one barely touched us,couple of inchs and some wind &cold. They do say it's going to be 48 on sunday, strange winter...

    Colleen

    Moderator
I wish I was getting 48 degrees on Sunday. I'm real worried about my roof with all the snow on it and rain coming Monday. I'm not sure it will handle the weight :(
    mycatsmom

Colleen, don't you shovel off you roof ? We do here in Mich. after a deep snow.We do it more in N. Mich. They even sell these long handled things called roof rakes....so you don't have to get up on the roof.
    Colleen

    Moderator
I have a rake. The snow is to heavy and dense for me to pull much of it off and there's no way I'm getting up on the roof to shovel it. It's a long house for me to try and shovel off alone.

Thanks Rick. What get me is that I help my neighbors all the time because I'm old school like that, yet they never offer to help me out.

They were great photo's, I've seen snow, but nothing like that ever, glad you and the pets are safe, hopefully warm with a good strong drink, or at least a warm one

I do not drink. I do not like the taste of liquor.

I currently don’t have TV but yesterday I watched the storms and the Anchor People fighting to get their story across the miles. I watched all day and into the night.  Terrible. I’m glad it’s ok for you. How about Bustione?

    itsmee

Just saw the pictures. Doggie coming forward looks like she had her ears pinned back so they wouldn’t get wet.
I was raised in snow country and don’t miss it. Carol and I had fun in an igloo-buiding contest one winter when we were kids. It was the worst igloo on the field. But we laughed the most.

I've not heard Bustione. Hope he's OK. The dog running is Digger. He was just running so fast his ears flew back. He's a beagle with definite beagles ears ;)

Terrible scene there Colleen,I`m so glad you are safe...dogs look cold but very cute!

    wont fit in the cessna.

Glad you are ok, saw the aftermath on the news, that was a 'ell of a lot of snow, unbelievable blizzards/ cold snaps on top and bushfires/ floods below.

The earth is shifting on it's axis. Expect more bizarre weather, though a blizzard in NE is not that bizarre.

3 1/2 feet of snow. Took me two days with the snowblower, and the help of my neighbor, to get our driveway cleared. Now its raining and so foggy I can't see across the street. Good old New England weather, if you don't like it just wait a minute, it will change!

The next 4 days we get bright sun and 41+ degrees!! Woot! It better melt the snow on my roof that I couldn't get too! Still wayyy to much snow up there!
According to weather channel.com, the visibility in this fog is 0. I believe it. I can barely see outside right now.
