    can you hook up a turntable to a tv

    I wouldn't see why not as long as you TV has audio input, and it probably does.  Turntables need to be grounded as they have a motor that will cause a hum when hooking to an external device.  You should be able to hook with RCA jacks and then using the TV's audio system to playback through TV speakers.
