    Standard Form 180, Request Pertaining to Military Records. This form has complete


    instructions and provides locations where, once completed and signed, you can mail it. You may be able to shave a day or two off the processing time by faxing the signed and completed form to the NPRC at:

    . The NPRC handles generally pre-1995 separations.Separations after 1995 are usually handled by the military branches themselves. Be sure to check the


    instructions on the SF180 to make sure you are sending your Request to the proper facility. Should there be any problems, if you send or fax your Request to NPRC, NPRC will respond to you in writing by U.S. Mail. If you send your Request to them by mistake, they may forward your request to the proper agency, OR respond to you with the address of the proper agency to which you should send your Request. This backand-forth correspondence may add days or weeks to the process
