ACCORDING TO WIKIPEDIA:
Karma is not punishment or retribution but simply an extended expression or consequence of natural acts. Karma means "deed" or "act" and more broadly names the universal principle of cause and effect, action and reaction, that governs all life. The effects experienced are also able to be mitigated by actions and are not necessarily fated. That is to say, a particular action now is not binding to some particular, pre-determined future experience or reaction; it is not a simple, one-to-one correspondence of reward or punishment.
Karma is not fate, for humans act with free will creating their own destiny. According to the Vedas, if one sows goodness, one will reap goodness; if one sows evil, one will reap evil. Karma refers to the totality of our actions and their concomitant reactions in this and previous lives, all of which determines our future. The conquest of karma lies in intelligent action and dispassionate response.
In other words, you get what you give.

Slubber, do not worry about the karma. This is not a game site. The points are not part of a game. You get a thumbs up if people like your answers or questions or decide to just give you a thumbs up because you asked about karma. When you earn enough karma you will be able to use the thumbs down button but I suggest you use it wisely. We do not thumbs down opinions. We only thumbs down bad or vulgar answers or answers that are meant to make fun of or verbally offend others. The main purpose of akaQA is to help others. Karma should not be the focal point.

Karma points in the case of akaQA really don't mean anything. There's no reward at the end of the rainbow. Some people work hard at them......for bragging rights, I guess. I hardly ever look at my karma points.
In real Karma, it's a belief in Hinduism, that whatever goes around, comes around. It says the same thing in the Bible. It says Whatever ye sow, so shall ye reap.. And John Lennon said something like that when he said " The love you make is the love you take "......or something like that.
