It takes not a village, but some family who demands the best of their child.  Also, a family who will have expectations both socially and educationally of the child.  Early interaction is important, not propping the youngster in front of the television, but the opposite, limiting the amount of television viewing to about a half to an hour per day maximum!  Reading and writing are so vital before the child is 3 yrs. old.  They should be read to and work on their letters, numbers, and colors/shapes before preschool.  As they are in elementary school, dialog with the child and followup on their progress in school is important.  They need this support and the home is part of the educational team.  The values and morals and ethics are supposed to come from the home.  These things will set the framework to a child becoming successful...  A caring family will encourage the child to want to be their best at everything that they do in life!

Great teachers, learning environment, materials, work ethic, supportive friends and relatives, and successful people they can emulate.
