With blue eyes, you should stay far away from blue eyeshadow. If you want you eyes to pop and look mesmerizing then try wearing earth-tones, such as browns with a slight purple base, taupe, and slate colored grays. If you want to have a little fun outside of the earth-tones, then try a nice rose colored eyeshadow. The coolness from the pink/purple eyeshadow will be a really nice contrast to your blue eyes.

According to color theory, which IS am actual science, the color that will look best next to and which will be most appealing, is the "complementary color" or the color that is opposite that color on the color wheel. Opposite blue we would find golden brown shades. For eye shadow, if you want those blue eyes to appear even more intensely blue, wear golden-brown eye shadow, with dark brown eyeliner and black or darkest brown mascara. This is best for blue eyes that have a little bit of aqua in them. If your eyes are a cooler blue tone, you can experiment with different kinds of browns, which may be more russet-like, or more like bark brown, or taupe. Taupe is s greyish brown hue that is very complementary to blue eyes, and is an excellent neutral shade for everyday wear for women with blue eyes. Contrary to popular belief, wearing blue eye shadow or blue eyeliner does NOT bring out or intensify the blueness of blue eyes - in fact, quite the opposite, because, by comparison, the intensity of the blue in the eye shadow is almost always going to make the blue of the eyes seem less intense.
By the same token, women with brown eyes can look great in blue tones of eye shadow, because it brings out the intensity of the brown-ness of their eyes.
But, it's always fun to experiment and I encourage ladies to try different color combi9nations - esp. dependent upon the dominant color of your outfit. your skin tone, ethnicity, etc. - all need to be taken into consideration. ,
