No. Nobody in his or her right mind would have thought that this would be the result, if indeed, this was the cause of her suicide. Millions of pranks are perpetrated every day and don't end this way. This one was relatively harmless, in and of itself, whereas the one in New Jersey was harmful (A college student taped another student engaged in a homosexual encounter, and this student committed suicide shortly thereafter).

I have seen many similar events supporting a guilt conviction for a variety of improbable coincidences. Were someone to attack a “protected” person in a prank with no open means to counter, then the perpetrator, is often blamed for a contrived, if not factual tragedy, as a repercussion to their attack. Although such coincidental may, in fact occur, the result of shielding the protected person is upheld and other pranksters are dutifully fore-warned.
