The Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant and is suffering from morning sickness for which she has been admitted to hospital. When you were pregnant and had morning sickness did you have to go to hospital?
Update.
The condition is called hyperemesis gravidum. It apparently affects more women who are bearing a girl or twins.
I can't help thinking that she was only hospitalised because she is the wife of the heir to the throne and bearing a future monarch.

To be fair it is "chronic" which seemingly only affects 1 in 10 pregnant women, and she was only taken in as a precaution, as all ladies know, it is quite a "crucial" time in your first pregnancy.

you know what I mean?
Kate is suffering from Acute Morning Sickness, she was starting to dehydrate, that's why she was taken to hospitable to be put on a drip and to keep an eye on her, she is after all carrying the future Monarch of England and the Commonwealth.

Actually horrible morning sickness can require both fluids and a liquid food formulated to go through the veins. It can be very serious to baby and to mom. Sadly it can last the entire pregnancy but usually gets better in month 4. It does not demonstrate a higher likelyhood of twins. Kate is an extremely trim woman. This can affect morning sickness. She will probably struggle to eat enough food throughout her pregnancy. I hope that she is feeling better..she waited a long time to get married to Wills and to get pregnant. I wish them all well.

To tell the truth, I have heard that she has a very serious morning sickness. It has a l--o--n--g name. I’d look it up but it’s not my concern. Pass the quackers.
Hyperemesis Gravidum is the medical term I had in mind. Yes, I’ve heard women who are carrying twins often have. I also heard that it can mean the woman is carrying more than twins (from an exact science source, I’m sure. Don’t quote me. : ) )
So think of this: What if she had triplets by Cesarean Section -- Who then would rule the roost?
How did I get involved here. LOL.
I had “morning sickness” all nine months. When I was in labor, I called for ice chips and quackers. I’m glad that first pregnancy is way over. The baby was nine pounds and I wonder if weight of the fetus or the fetuses causes morning sickness.

I didn't have morning sickness ever, in three pregnancies. ONE time I had a dizzy spell.
If Kate is dehydrated, hospitalization seems appropriate. It would seem appropriate for anybody who has become dehydrated.
Although I not an anglophile, I wish Will and Kate happiness. There is definitely a lot of indulgence in royalty, but this bunch isn't any different than any other.

If I were Kate I would welcome this treatment! I watch some ladies at work who are with child and some suffer more than others- if her condition is so severe as to dehydration I am glad she has this option! Many of us did not have this option , nor did some of us be so sick as to dehydrate. As in all health care issues- those who got the bucks- Get the best care!

This is not just normal "morning sickness". A friend's daughter had this condition. She wasn't royalty and was in the hospital 3 or 4 times due to dehydration and malnutrition. This is not healthy for the mother nor the child and can be dangerous. She was also on complete bed rest for the last three months and it was born prematurely. The baby almost didn't make it. Some women have very difficult pregnancies....even Royals. I imagine that precautions are being taken for a good reason.

No, she was hospitalized b/c she was in danger of becoming dehydrated, for one thing . When I was first an LPN, when I was young, there was an empoyee of the hospital who was admitted for the same thing Kate has . .......she was preg, and she couldn't stop throwing up. Her husband called her, " a proffessional vomiter " . A woman should be hospitalized when they are preg and have that condition.
