It sounds like there might be an issue with the battery, especially if the radio keeps turning on and off. The best thing to do is go to an autoparts store or garage and have them check your battery charge. (They will usually do this for free if they aren't busy.) Typically after 5 years or so, car batteries will lose their ability to keep a charge which can cause the radio and car to shut off. If it is a newer battery, you may want to check if the alternator is draining the battery because you will need to replace it otherwise any battery you put in will get drained quickly causing that same problem.
