      9x - 7 = 13


      You have to get 9x by itself. So, do the opposite of subtraction and add 7 on both sides.


      9x - 7 + 7 = 13 + 7


             -7 + 7 will cancel out


      9x = 20


      9x means to multiply. So, do the opposite and divide 9 on both sides.


      9x/9 = 20/9


      Answer:  x = 20/9
