Instructions
1
Open the phone application on your device and dial *#06# to display the IMEI number for your phone. Write down the IMEI number.
2
Navigate to the website of the phone-unlocking service of your choice, and ensure that the service guarantees the ability to unlock LG phones. Choices include UnlockThatPhone.com, UnlockItNow.com or UnlockToTalk.com. Provide the service with your mobile provider, phone number and IMEI number and pay any fees that are required. In return, the phone-unlocking service should provide you with an unlocking code for your device.
3
Remove the SIM card for your old mobile provider and insert the SIM card for your current provider. Every phone is different, but the SIM card is typically found on the back side, under the back cover.
4
Open the phone application on your device and type in 2945#* followed directly by the model number of your phone, followed by another "#" symbol. So if your model number is 900, you should type in "2945#*900#" without the quote marks. This should open up a box that says "SIM Network Unlock PIN" or something similar.
5
Enter the unlock code you got from the unlocking service into the box and then select "Unlock." Your phone should now restart and be connected to the new network.
Tips & Warnings
In some cases, you may be prompted to enter an unlock code right after you insert a new SIM card into the phone. In that case, you won't need to complete Step 4.
Your current mobile provider may provide you with an unlocking code, in some cases. If you want to try, call their customer service line and request an unlock, and obtain the unlocking code directly from them.
