Holy moley, Jack...I was only a tiny baby in '56. You remind me of my Dad so much, very on the ball still, same as you. He'll be 86 in January.
No, he was a teenager...still living in Ireland, where he was born when WWII broke out. We came to Canada when he was 40.
All of us who volunteered, were given our Diploma on April 15th.
I went to four weeks of Boot Training, then we were sent to our ships. I arrived at my ship in English Channel the day after the invasion.
