Make a pet of a spider. A friend has an interest in pet spiders and keeps several. Mostly local species that produce neat orbital shaped webs. He feeds them grubs and a variety of live insects. I do not keep pet spiders but there are several in my house that keeps the place free of any sort of bug that comes their way and controls their numbers also. No black widows but at least 3 types all year. Spiders keep my garden clear of insects. Many are colorfully marked and spider bits are very rare.
Black widows produce irregular webs. Until recently their silk was the strongest of all spiders and chemists tried to reproduce their silk in the labs for years without commercial success. In WW2 black widow spider silk was used as the cross hairs on the Norton Bomb Site and in various parlor tricks designed to produce the illusion of magical control.
The study of spiders is quite fascinating and their many applications.

I don't think you ever get over your fear of spiders. I still dispise them and fear them, unless they're tiny. But, there will come a time ,, when your mom or dad or your spouse won't be here to kill them, so you have to either take the spider outside,or kill it in your house. I find that if I spray them first with rubbing alchohol, or Windex, they're easier to chase down and squash with a paper towel or whatever.

Vigorously pull your face out from between the checks of your buttocks, and then take a very brief moment to get the Hell over it! If your fear of spiders interferes with your life, it could be said that you have a phobia.
Millions of people deal with that issue everyday...with no consequences! You need to remind yourself of that!
