So it's full of water but the agitator is not working? Try this
Typically, this is the first thing to go wrong with a GE washing machine, and it is usually the easiest to fix. Many people panic when their agitator goes down, fearing that the problem is deeply mechanical. Usually, the problem is with the drive belt, however, and can easily be fixed at home.
Before attempting any repairs to your GE washer, make sure and unplug the appliance. Even the simplest of repairs can result in electrical shock.
Remove the back access panel of the washer and press on the drive belt. If it moves more than an inch with the pressure, it needs to be tightened. Loosen the mounting nut and gently move the motor along the mounting rail until the belt tightens. Screw the mounting nut back in and the problem should be resolved.
