Fill a squirt bottle with water and squirt him when you catch him doing it.....

Cat's don't like to be alone for long periods of time and they don't like to be ignored. They don't like dogs sniffing around their litter boxes and they like a bit of privacy when they use the box. They are clean freaks so they like clean litter boxes. It is highly unusual for a cat to chose a stove as a litter box. Try some of the other suggestions people have given but don't rule out a trip to the vets.

Also fill the bottle with a bit of ammonia in the water, it will offend the cat more than just the plain water, and make more of a point of it being no fun to do this. If it persists, convert said cat to an outside cat, that is what I would do, no cat of mine would pee on my stove, twice!

Not if it is a very weak solution, or you can use vinegar, if you fear that...
Leave the stov on for a couple of days. It'll be too hot for him/het to get on it. Maybe it'll get the hint.
