The Marathon has been cancelled. It was the right thing to do.

Good for moral but bad in that the cops are busy elsewhere right now.....

Seems like the kind of thing to postpone, under the circumstances....

I do not think the marathon should be held.

They are still in search and research mode. I believe 80 per cent of the runners would be glad to donate their time and effort to some thing -- anything! 

I think it’s almost an insult to those who are suffering.

Artists are putting on a concert tonight. (Friday) It will raise money for the down and out and wet.

Bruce Springsteen wrote a song about 22 years ago. It’s called “Sandy” It’s about the area that got hit.  I can’t quite get the lyrics yet ... but Wow! huh?

A tough decision for the mayor.There is merit in both sides of the argument here.At least holding the marathon would give some people the perspective of getting back to normal.On the other hand if the cops are needed elsewhere then they have to be there.

Why not,?

It's a positive thing, get's peoples minds off 

of the recent horrific events they've been

through and gives a boost of community

spirit, along with the feeling that things are 

returning back to normal.

BAD IDEA! There was a very moving baseball game at Shea Stadium, when baseball resumed after 9/11. Participants have looked forward to this marathon for years and have gone through grueling training. There are always inspirational cases like those in wheelchairs or the ones who cross the finish line the next day. The victims of Sandy need inspiration and if the race just inspires one of them, it's worth it.
