Remove the Old Battery
When removing a battery always remove the negative cable first followed by the postive. If you touch a wrench to the frame while removing the positive cable with the negative attached you can cause an explosion or fire resulting in serious acid or fire burns. Loosen the clamp that holds the battery in place and carefully lift the battery out. Since batteries contain corrosive materials, it's a good idea to wear rubber gloves and safety glasses when handling them.
Install a New Battery
Inspect the tray that holds the battery and clean any corrosion from it. Then inspect the cables and terminal ends and replace as necessary. Apply a coat of terminal protection spray to the new battery and secure it in the tray. Fit battery washers over the terminals, re-attach the battery cables and tighten the terminal clamps securely with the socket wrench.
