Artist, figure skater,  hockey player but, that was frowned upon as a girl when I was growing up.

The times they are a changin'. I only remember 3 choices...nurse, teacher, secretary/office worker.
    FISH-O

My real choices were actually, lab tech, lab tech, lab tech.

I remember wanting to be a lawyer, probably a teacher, and a wife/mother.

    ed shank

    That explains a lot. Lawyer.

Yeah Willy, let's hear the pitch!
    Chiangmai

Actually I would consider myself more of a selling professional than a professional salesman.

What did I sell lately? Closing escrow on our house deal this week. One step closer to building our retirement house in Chiangmai to play with all the elephants there.

And then there is "Account Executive", "Sales Representative", "Sales Executive", and "Company Representive". (The manager says, "Oh, a selling professional wants to see me? Sure, send him right in"!) LOL!!!

    Teacher, ballerina....nun...

I saw a movie when I was a kid "The Nun's Story" with Audrey Hepburn and I wanted to be a nun too. My mother talked me out of it...probably because we weren't Catholic? lol
    Dardaigh

    Too funny, Ducky! ;D

Well, I had an aunt who was one and I thought her habit was cool...lol. Then I found out I couldn't have a boyfriend, too...(mind you I was all of 5-6) but that put paid to the "vocation".

So we took the same path to end up together on aka. Imagine we could have been in a nunnery together...being humble and meek! ugh! (Mother knew best after all.) :)
    Dardaigh

Oh right...I would have been Sister Berthrill...I mean Bertrill.
    millie111

lol...i STILL want to be a nun...but I`d last less than 2 mins in a silent order...and I`d have to have the cats with me!!:-)

The three of us should apply but tell them we need a sound proof room. We can laugh and talk all night and be quiet all day? lol
    Dardaigh

Nooooooo...the habit was all part of the deal for me...now that they wear civvies...what's the point? ;)

Okay...I guess my "nun dream" must die, right here, right now...I'm not going alone. :)
    Dardaigh

    (No aspirations for "skate sharpener"?)

I thought being an elephant would be cool.  I also thought being a unicorn would be worth a try.

Always wanted to fly a plane. I realized that I didn't like flying that high. Now I fly on the ground.

My first choise was an electrician, then a achitecter, and a carpenter. did all three, and end up as a miner. and took my pension after 30yr. service.

    Chiangmai

a Wirer, a Aspirer, and Wood-screwer? Good background.

When I was about 5 or 6 I thought Roy Rogers was pretty cool so cowboy was high on the list.Later on I dreamt of being an AFL star.(Keep dreamin'.I actually came closer to being a cowboy). Then I thought of being a fighter pilot but the Army got me first & that cured me of any military aspirations.So.. I stuck with my apprenriceship & turned out a pretty reasonable carpenter. No regrets.

    tabber

My dad was a carpenter too. He's retired now, but he thought it was the most honorable profession one could have. He said Jesus did carpentry, so dad loved it and worked very hard and was very much appreciated by his company. He worked for them over 30 years.

    Spaceghost

Hello mcm, I ended up doing many jobs, not the fighter pilot, but I did do some work for the gov't. I didn't body build but I power lifted. I still do some SOF work. I work a 9 to 5 repairing equipment in a drive line factory.

    Own a construction company.

    facebook

    And go bankrup?
    Shootah

    That was pretty much it.
    facebook

Well I was only guessing, I didn't mean it that way only met to say that the chance are sleem in making a profitable company in these days, you need lots of luck and good background, like a inheritance to have a good startup.
    Dardaigh

Wow, you had those aspirations as a kid?
Makes "ballerina" look tu tu silly.
    Bob/PKB

    Love your comment Dardaigh.
Shootah, were you a "Lego" lover? K'nex? Lincoln Logs?
    Shootah

Yes, I had Lincoln Logs as a kid, and I grew up only to build houses, weld structural steel for larger buildings and bridges. But, my real passion was to build roads, as an employer, not employee though. That takes a certain number of things to come into place though.
    Shootah

I had a small construction company until the economy changed...and I got out of it at the right time. It was fun while it lasted, and I enjoyed being my own boss.
    Bob/PKB

Good for you, Shootah, making your dreams come true as best you could. You have my respect, for sure.

I though the wife was the boss? At lease I'LL let her think she is, and most of the time she is my boss??? Now did I say this right?

When I was a little girl in the 50s, then a teen-ager in the 60s, you were given 3 choices.......to be a nurse, teacher, or hair dresser.   :- |

Think about it MCM. Names do not always reflect the language a person speaks.
