For us women.

The seat and the lid should both be down

because studies have shown airborne 

particles coming from the toilet if the lid

is left up and that is quite gross.

Why are toilets made with a hinged seat that goes up and down and a hinged lid that also goes up and down?  For use by both men and women and for hygiene when flushing.

Helps cut down on the bit**ing.

My reason would be to keep house pet from falling in and drougning, also to be a little more respect to other sanitation wise, my dog has no tast bud?? water hmmm!! a little salty that Ok. no complaining from him.

Because it's cleaner when you flush and it's polite to leave it down for the next user.

Well, I never!  What a lot of rotten, stingy people we have here. TUs being handed out by the dozen and what does the questioner get ? One meager TU.  Shame on you!

Excuse me for coming in right at the end of this very interesting debate, may I just mention one little thing - in an "emergency" a woman is likely to approach the loo backwards and therefore doesn't have a good view of how things lie - whereas men (most of the time) will approach it forwards so they can see how the situation lies before they commit themselves!  So it is only reasonable to expect the men leave the seat ready for the women to use.

It's harder for the snakes to get out.

I don`t have that problem ! My wife hands me a shovel tells me to use the next door neighbours garden ,doesn`t like her .thinks she talks a lot of "S--T !! I don`t argue ."Wise Man !

Because women would not "stand" for such behavior!  Also,not doing so can be deadly for men!

because when you flush it is disgusting.  Nasty water sprays your whole bathroom, then you walk in it and smear it all over your home. I make it a rule to always put lid down and take off your nasty shoes when entering my home.

You might want to call a plumber and have your toilet checked as it should not be spraying water all over your bathroom. This is a problem not a normal thing for a toilet to do.

b/c when it's up, then the woman or the girl in the house have to touch the seat to put it down.........and that is germy . So, let the man that used it put it down and then WASH  his hands !!

youn guys ever sit on the crapper and the seat slips to the side and cracks and pinches your butt half off?

so your old ladys butt, does fall into the bowl.

Because men urinate everywhere and it's a way to Make it look clean for the next 2 days untill we get the wonderful duty of cleaning the darn stains off again! It's either that or a cork! It never gets old....

this makes sense.first it stop the smell in all the bathroom and in the house.

it also hide the dirty marks if not cleaned .so it is much better to keep it down.
