Park the vehicle on level ground and set the parking brake. Lift the seat latch at the rear of the seat and remove the seat.

Remove the negative battery cable using a socket wrench. Push the cable to the side away from metal to prevent an accidental spark.

Locate the rubber boot attached to the electrical connector, which is attached to the starter. Pull the boot back and, using a socket wrench, remove the exposed nut disconnecting the starter cable from the starter.

Locate the starter mounting bolt and remove using a socket wrench. The mounting bolt will also have a negative cable attached. Remove the negative cable from the mounting bolt.

Remove the last bolt securing the starter. Pull the starter toward the left side and remove it from the engine.
