I am having a write protection issue with a samsung 16gb micro memory card

whenever you try to modify, erase, move or otherwise tamper with data on the disk it comes back with "disk is write protected", which from all observations it is not. the micro card reader is properly set to unlocked, and the micro chip itself has no external write protection switch, so it is either a written file of some kind contained on the micro chip itself, or some other hidden file containing write protection options.  I would just like to format the micro card itself and be done with it, but sadly you cannot because - EVERYONE, EVERYONE correct it's write protected, cant re-partition it either.  Anyone seen this before?  what if any solution was successful? Thanks.
