There are many variables.  What country do you live in?  What government pension plan do you have?  How long have you worked?  Do you have a private pension plan?  How much money do you have in savings?  Do you still have large payments.....home, vehicle?  Do you have dependents?  Do you have health coverage?  All of these factors and more, enter into the decision to retire or work longer.  You might want to check with a financial advisor or an accountant BEFORE you give your notice!

If you are a self funded retiree, cutting back working hours may be an option if you don't have sufficient funds to retire completely, also check with your superannuation fund, you should be able to access that money now if you don't intend to work again.

You can retire anytime you want! However having the money to do so is a problem for many!

    I hope so. I can't wait.

    Uh huh.

Yes but you will not receive your full retirement benefits.

I semi-retired at 60.I just wound down the amount of work I was accepting. With a little bit of budgeting & a bit of careful planning it can be done.

    Certainly...and even a lot younger!  ""

I retired at 51, self imposed retirement. Told my boss to piss off and never had another 9 to 5 job again. My hobby allows me to make a few bucks. At 61 I would never consider working for anyone again. Both my wife and I will be collecting social security within a year, and we should be able to pay the bills and maintain our current lifestyle with that amount. We are fortunate to have a reasonable savings account to fall back on.

I retired at a very young age, like around 49 or 50........

You could retire at any age provide you have the fund, remenber when you get older the cost of living then will steadily climb, so you need for extra saving as the inflation goes up, another thing you might want to consider is by keeping one occupy if you want to maintain a heathy life style. All the money in the world wont keep you healthy. By staying active is best for any kind of illness.

This is the answer I gave you for your swollen feet question:
Prop them up to relieve the swelling, walking will also reduce the swelling if you can stand to walk (if the pain is not so bad I mean). Call your doctor an make an appointment to find out why your body is retaining water. If you are not pregnant, this could be a sign of a heart complication. It's best to get it checked.
