There are many variables. What country do you live in? What government pension plan do you have? How long have you worked? Do you have a private pension plan? How much money do you have in savings? Do you still have large payments.....home, vehicle? Do you have dependents? Do you have health coverage? All of these factors and more, enter into the decision to retire or work longer. You might want to check with a financial advisor or an accountant BEFORE you give your notice!

I retired at 51, self imposed retirement. Told my boss to piss off and never had another 9 to 5 job again. My hobby allows me to make a few bucks. At 61 I would never consider working for anyone again. Both my wife and I will be collecting social security within a year, and we should be able to pay the bills and maintain our current lifestyle with that amount. We are fortunate to have a reasonable savings account to fall back on.

Prop them up to relieve the swelling, walking will also reduce the swelling if you can stand to walk (if the pain is not so bad I mean). Call your doctor an make an appointment to find out why your body is retaining water. If you are not pregnant, this could be a sign of a heart complication. It's best to get it checked.
