A good therapist will listen and restate my thoughts to assure us I've been understood.
A good therapist will ask pertinent questions and delve into my answers, much like peeling an onion.
A good therapist will help me come to realizations and courses of action rather than tell me what to do.
A good therapist will not be sympathetic, condescending, antagonistic, or condemning.
A good therapist will not place blame (only getting my perspective)
A good therapist will admit when (s)he is perplexed or unable to provide the help I need.
A good therapist will NOT ask me to pay BEFORE our session.

thanks bob i like these answers. i have worked with many kids over the years and only about half like their therapist and feel that they help them.
Thanks for the B.A. tabber! A good child therapist is really hard to find. I don't think they know they need to think like a child to better relate to the child. THEN start "therapizing".
Good, you get better and move forward.
Bad, you stagnate or things get worse.
If you can't figure it out, you're beyond help.
