Ask interesting questions that the community members can appreciate and answer questions with good valid and knowledgeable answers. Karma is given by the members when they like what you ask or how you answer. Fun friendly answers in sociable type questions will help too.
Welcome to akaQA and I hope you enjoy the ride here ;)

Also, answer a question only one time. You can answer as many times as you like in the blue area or as a comment but to use the "add new answer" box more than one time per question is considered double dipping (a way to get extra karma by having more than one answer that can receive thumbs up). You will be reminded not to do this the first time or two. After that, your extra answer/s will be deleted and you will be given a warning. After that, it's suspension. I doubt you would let it get that far ;)
Hi Nick. The first thing you can do is answer questions. One of the ways we do that is by finding the answers on the internet... Google Search is the engine that I choose. Google Translate comes in very handy as well. If you know the answer then chime right in.
Some answers are just opinion answers and with those state your opinion. Stay away from offensive language, racism, homophobia, religion bashing and or standing on a pulpit ... in other words... common sense prevails.
When your answer is on the thread other members will Thumb You Up if they like your answer. With each thumbs up your Karma will increase.
I can't tell you what the Karma points are actually for as I have not figured it out quite yet. It may have something to do with Quantum Physics and I have not studied that subject as of yet.
Good Luck, have fun and welcome to akaQA.

What are Karma points?
As you contribute to the community your profile accumulates Karma points. These points distinguish you as a respected member and one which opinion is highly regarded by the community. Gaining Karma points also opens up doors to some cool features in akaQA which are constantly added.
The karma points system is not intended for resolving personal conflicts between members.
Here's how karma points work:
Each "Thumbs Up" on your question or answer yields 15 point.
Each "Thumbs Down" on your question or answer yields -35 point.
Each "Thumbs Down" on someone else's question yields -10 points.
Number of daily votes
The number of daily votes you can give is limited and grows as your Karma rises.
