Olympic Games: Pure Sport or Pure Commerce ?

They refer to the athletes as "amateurs", yet most of them can't possibly train full-time without some form of sponsorship. Then you have the real pros. Remember the Dream Team in basketball ? Same goes for hockey, tennis and more. Why not call it what it is? An entertaining sporting extravaganza.

The athletes haven't been amateurs for many years now, the "Olympics" is a commercial event, as long as there are no artificial means of winning any competitions I shall admire them all.

They do have to spend a lot of money to host the event,

so it's not surprising they want to recoupe money on the

enterprise. Then of course every Tom, Dick and Harry

tries to cash in on it, also.

Pure Sport?  Pure Commerce?  Who cares?  I absolutely love it!

Sad to say they turned one of the oldest games om earth into one of the oldest objectives on earth....MONEY

mAYBE..BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE V.HAPPY!!(All the nations brought together!..That can`t be bad!!:-)

Any big sport event is about money. But I shall enjoy watching the Olympics and get away from nasty politics and upsetting events here in the US for a while.
