    rca projection tv.. 12 years old should I repair it or buy a new one

    turns off automatically when turned on.  It atarted doing it about a month ago. It would turn off and then you could turn it back on.  BUT NOW  it will not urn on at all.  The green light comes on and then goes out immediatly

    It's going to cost more to fix it than it would cost to buy a new one. Start watching for sales. 

    TV's are cheap now and projection TV's really don't give as good picture as today's LCD or Plasma. I wouldn't put a dime in an old projection TV.  since i am answering a month later, I hope you took Colleen's advice.

    If you are still looking, there are many on-line retailers and I personally would stay away from Plasma.  I bought a Samsung 46 in. from Abes of Maine, and got a great deal, could not compare from local retailers, with free shipping, and reasonable extended service plan, it still was much cheaper than Best Buy, etc.  Good luck..

    The projection TV is worth more in parts than the cost of repair and it’s useful life expectancy is limited also. I subscribe to Consumers’ Reports and take their advice for the best buy on the market.  If CR says Model xr3117 is the best on the market and it is what I am looking for…I buy that model only and not a second rate model or knock off or look alike model. My wife gets furious when I do that but then I tell her that I chose her...
