Since 2008, the American Heart Association has recommended that untrained bystanders use Hands-Only CPR — CPR without breaths — for an adult victim who suddenly collapses. The steps to Hands-Only CPR are simple: _Call 9-1-1_and push hard and fast on the center of the ___chest___ until ______________________ help or an AED arrives.

I have done countless first aid courses as it's compulsory in my work, the last senior first aid course I did in Australia also now only recommends chest compressions...........and it's call 000 here

The US still says to call for help first- as an untrained bystandr may not perform chest compressions correctly and a defib with cardiac drugs is the #1 lifesaver.
that is also recommended here if possible, but any help is better than no help to keep the heart muscle going, thankfully I've never had to use it,though have managed to stop a couple of choking episodes
Doo,they don't recommend that method here (maybe too many getting it too wrong)I'm afraid I was a little barbaric and nearly knocked the last one into tomorrow.... coughed up the offending lump of chook though, much to my relief
was more like a rather severe thump, sending the poor fellow clear across the table, subtle not but had the desired result
