My name is Sharon Fennell & I live in Florence,SC. I have desperately been trying to find homes for some stray cats that showed up at my house (which is in the country) for about 10 months now. They have had babies before I could get them trapped & now there are at least 14 babies & about 15 adults.I have made every attempt that I know of to help these animals. I have contacted 26 rescue/TNS groups national & local. (ex:Alley Cats, humane society of Florence, Carolina Kittens, spay usa & much more).I have put on facebook, twitter & made video for you tube & craigslist. The problem started when an 85 yr old lady that lives nearby fed stray cats & then when to hospital for several weeks & no one was there to feed them then they came to my property.I have managed to find homes for 5 of them but have this many left.Today I received a call from Carolina kittens & she does not have the funds to help with the situation even thought they have exhausted all of their contacts & have really tried to help me. Since this I have had health issues (had cancer yrs ago & now breathing issues lead me to not be around cats any longer) that are forcing me to do something with these cats immediately. My family has given me sevral deadlines & I have managed to keep pushing them back until now. I have got to do soemthing with these cats IMMEDIATELY (this week) or I have to call environmental services which will lead to the end of these precious animals..I really do not know what else to do & I am PLEADING with everyone to please help me & these poor animals.they are not feral nor not completely tamed. with love these will be great animals. They will come up to you where you can pet their heads for a second but there are so many of them that I can not catch them.PLEASE HELP THESE ANIMALS....In the past I have helped many animals & organizations & have always been a good samaritan in that regard. through this experience I have had a real eye opener.so many organizations have closed the doors to this situation & I realize it is a hard process & lots of animals but I just can't fathom the idea of putting down these animals.they don't deserve their lives to end because no one wants to help....I am so lost with this situation & just need a light at the end of the tunnel... My medical bills are piling up & due to my health I can not have them around or I would do whatever I could to see that they had a home here but that can not happen...PLEASE HELP I AM BEGGING YOU! please contact me @ sfennell2000@yahoo.com

It sounds like you have made every effort possible to save these kitties. I wish I had a viable solution; hopefully someone will have a GOOD answer for you. Best wishes and thank you for being one who cares.
The Shelter Pet Project just had a commercial on TV. I've never heard of that before...might see if they have something in your area. :(

I understand how you feel. A friend of mine had 14 Feral cats in his yard and he was feeding them. He finally called Animal Allies. They told him they would take the cats, one or two at a time. He trapped one every other day and took it to Animal Allies one hour away. It took him almost three weeks until the last cat was trapped. He also gave them a genereous donation. Animal Allies has spayed all the cats, found homes for the younger ones and the other, older cats live on a farm in a barn, with the consent of the owner of the farm.
Animal Allis is a volunteer organization. They might even come and trap tthe cats themselfes.I know our local humane Society also said they would take them, but he did not want to take them there, because he was afraid they would euthanize them.
I can understand your frustration. This bad economy has affected donations to animal sheltersTry Animal Allies and SPCA. Best of luck.

This is an especially 'mean' season for stray cats...I just convinced one friend to adopt a stray another friend had found- all of our shelters and local groups are giving cats away free (they are that full). You have been a human angel to care for the cats and their kittens for so long! It sounds like you have tried every possible group to come to their rescue!
