I can't agree on opportunity. It can come back around again. It does knock twice or more, especially if it is meant for you. I also do not agree that time is ever wasted. What a person is doing at any moment in life is exactly what they are suppose to be doing. Who is the one who can decide when time is wasted? I've had people tell me that I waste my time answering questions on akaQA. I do not agree that my time here is wasted because someone somewhere is helped by what I post here. 

I don't intend to waste either but, I work better under pressure................

Sometimes the wasting of something is where the lesson lives.

Certainly time passes, and leaves behind only memories.
Sometimes we do have opportunities re-present themselves; hopefully if we missed it the first time, we can grab hold if we are so blessed. 
I do think we should always be on the lookout for, or at least open to, opportunities.  
 

Hmmm..reminds me of a few songs...but, I digress, there are some past times in my life that I am relieved are over and some opportunities too....I agree with both Colleen and Fishy on this one.
