To find 13% of a number, divide 13 BY the number.
    example:  25% of 100.   25 divided by 100 = .25

I think this is what you need

if total is 500 and 13% is tax

what you do is divide 500 by 113 then multiply by 13 gives you tax due

    Simple.  Total divided by 1.13
