How to change my car's charging system from a 4 wire alternator to a 1 wire alternator

I have a 4 wire Motorola externally regulated alternator and I want to use a GM 1 wire internally regulated alternator. I've been told by several people it can be done! But how?

I don't think it is really possible, sounds like you have a compact type alternator fitted, 4 wire plug and a bigger (red) positive lead, you proberly could fit it and be able to charge a battery, but I dont think it is possible to get battary light to go out on dash, probley better fitting like for like.
