STOP SMOKING if you are pregnant! You are polluting your teeny weeny little baby at ALL stages of development if smoking while pregnant! The smoke goes into your lungs and bloodstream as well as babys'...you are housing someone else inside your "temple"..your body...I would speak on behalf of your baby and plead with you.."MOMMY PLEASE DON"T SMOKE!"

A smaller birth weight for one thing............

I think you schould stop smoking immediately. The smoke does affect your unborn child, like asthma or even a heart condition that your baby might be born with. Think of your baby first. It deserves to be healthy.

Ok, "mom's" do lots of things at the beginning of pregnancy when they don''t know they are pregnant yet- and for the most part the kids are OK.  Now that you know you are pregnant it is time to stop drinking alcohol, smoking, taking 'street' drugs, and checking before you take any OTC or RX medicines.  Take a prenatal vitamin, get the book "What to Expect when You are Expecting" and make an appointment with your OBGYN.  We know about some harms that come from continual use of these things...but they are now, just beginning to do genetic studies to see if their are genetic changes in the babies that will make them more prone to addictions, lower their immune systems, decrease their height, make them prone to auto-immune disorders such as Lupus and Crohns Disease, increase the likely hood of cancer, etc.  So, it's time to take positive steps for you and your baby by doing all of the above, eating right, and talking to your doctor about exercise, how and what to eat so you gain an appropriate amount of weight, and any illnesses you have and how to manage them during pregnancy!  Hey, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I'm ok with that-- As I said, don't smoke or drink alcohol--I guess i should have added 'mind altering drugs' as well. IMHO, anyone that uses 'MAD' to get high for any non medical purpose is MAD! And! to introduce this to an unborn child makes them total idiots in my mind, I have no respect for derelict mothers. However, smoking I don't consider 'mind altering' but I am still against smoking for other reasons, and second hand is not one of them..

BS!!  ALL BS!! So many TV commercials warnings, they make lots of money!! Its all about money!  I am not for smoking, i think its a dirty habit, it stinks and it doesn't do anything for the smoker other than maybe quiet your nerves for a few moments because its a narcotic.  As far as second hand smoke?? Ther is no proof of this anywhere, they can not prove that ANYONE died of second hand smoke PERIOD! But the followers will swear by it even thought there is no proof!

For the mother smoking while pregnant, yes, i will agree that it's not necessarily good for you  or the baby and I wouldn't agree with smoking while pregnant but only for the reason your baby is getting a dose of narcotics just like you are.   IMO, I think drinking alcohol is the same thing, and even worse! Because you can actually get drunk, dizzy, sick, etc and it is carried through the bloodstream faster than nicotine, much faster.. You are drunk and sick, so is your baby.

I don't smoke OR drink but I am a free thinker, I don't let media get in my way of thinking. People have been smoking for hundreds of years, yet we live on! I put as much faith in second hand smoke as I do in Global Warming and we nasty humans are killing the planet.  It's all BS and if you follow the 'money trail' you will see it too!   .But I digress-- Don't smoke any time, pregnant or not. Don't drink alcohol either, but both in moderation I don't think is going to affect your baby or you, excessive is the word here.

Flame on.... but I am sticking to what I believe until someone really has proof, and it  can not be done.

Gotcha- which chemical in a cig. is a narcotic???
    Vinny

    nicotine

Lots of good information here please give children the choice not to smoke don't smoke before and after they are born it's not good for you, so baby's are special vunerable to smoke even people near you can afect them

WOULD YOU GIVE your baby a cigarette?..OR drugs when they are born..or alcohol etc...Whatever you are putting into your body...then the baby is too!...Nicotine is a poison as well as the  rest!...Give your baby the best start of a healthy life...they are feeding off your nourishment...so the healthier intake the better!

Good luck n all best wishes,
