But you know, if you really want something done right, you MUST do it yourself! And don't drown in those beans!
Oh dear, and I knew the answer for m&ms but, alas, jelly beans come in many different sizes as do pickle jars. There are 5 in my pickle jar...there is still room...but 5 def. fit!!!

Hi, doo! Yes, M&Ms for me, too. Used to have a huge jar of them in the dorm room. I kept all the red ones. Roommate kept the yellow. The rest were eaten promptly by everyone who crossed the threshold. :D
What size are the jelly beans? Are they "Jelly Belly" size or "regular" size? A large pickle jar can be as much as 64 oz or as little as 32 oz.
When I stashed jelly beans (regular size) in a pickle jar (64 oz. size), I counted them carefully. A total of 893 fit in "comfortably". When I started mashing them, I was able to get another 451 in the jar. It wasn't pretty, though.
