This is a tough one because you still like him...any chance of a friendship?? (Could you be friends with him if he was dating someone else- and respect her too?). While you are dating there will be times that a guy leaves you, You leave a guy, or you both decide to move on.
Perhaps thinking about why you decided to break up with him will help. Sometimes hanging with friends, doing school or outside work, helping a living being (person or animal), and realizing that You deserve a great guy will help! (and yes you still like him- but you broke up with him for a reason. So, maybe he wasn't all that great? Or just not for you? )

but now he makes my life horrid. he made up things about me and sometimes threw things at me he and his friends would. so i think being friends wont work :(
